Background:
- EPL IWCF and IADC (WellSharp) Well Control and Well Intervention courses are based on the standard IWCF and IADC syllabuses which will be forwarded to participants after registration. The standard syllabus may also be downloaded from IWCF or IADC website (e.g. www. iwcf.org)
- Audience: Everyone involved in the drilling and well completion process: Drilling Managers, Company Men, Drilling Engineers, Toolpushers, Drillers, Assistant Drillers, Derrickmen, Well Completion Engineers, Wireline and Coiled Tubing Engineers etc.
- The participants should have a basic understanding of maths, be able to use a calculator and must be familiar with basic drilling equipment. Participants new to the oil industry should attend a basic drilling course prior to attending this course.

Learning Outcome:
The participant will be able to understand well control equipment and well control methods and will be awarded an IWCF or IADC ( WellSharp) certificate on passing a formal IWCF or IADC test. The tests can be a paper test or an online test.

IWCF Well Control (Surface BOP stack): Level 2
This program is designed for people in critical well control positions on drilling installations as well as onshore roles. The candidates will complete an IWCF accredited training course, taught according to IWCF syllabus, in order to prepare them for assessment.
Candidates who pass the exam will be awarded IWCF certificates issued from IWCF in the UK.
Level Two: No Simulator Required
Validation Period
· Level 2 training – Consists of two written assessments: Equipment and Principles & Practices Papers.
· If passed, the candidate will be awarded a certificate, which is valid for 5 years.
Examination
To pass the assessment and obtain a certificate, candidates must achieve a minimum mark of 70% in each section of the examination.
Each candidate is required to complete two written test papers which include multiple choice questions and Kill Sheet calculations.
All candidates are allowed between 1.5 and 2.5 hours to complete this section, depending on the options taken.
The examinations are made up of multiple choice problem questions. Candidates must be able to identify equipment components and operating procedures using diagrams and schematics.
Independent invigilators who are registered and approved by the IWCF conduct the written tests at our Centre.

Surface Principles and Procedures: 1.5 hr

Level Four: Simulator Required
Course Objectives:
This program is aimed at people who are in critical well control positions during well intervention operations. Candidates will complete an accredited training course, taught according to IWCF syllabus, in order to prepare them for assessment.
At the end of the course delegates should be able to:
· Understand of well control methods relating to well intervention operation.
· Identify completion types, equipment functions and industry practices.
· Identify barrier systems and know the terminology.
· Identify well control methods.
· Identify solutions to various well control problems.
· Determine if well control equipment is fit for purpose.
· Design a well kill plan for a production well and generate a kill graph.
· Discuss production well kill problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
The course is delivered through lectures supported by animations, self-study exercises, and group discussions. The course concludes with two closed-book examination
leading to the required certificate of competence in well intervention.
Certification is valid for two years.

In some cases, very experienced engineers can do level 4 without doing level 2, but this engineer must have attended several industry training courses such as the Shell rounds 1 and two.

If passed, the certificate is valid for 2 years.

To pass the assessment and obtain a certificate, candidates must achieve a minimum mark of 70% in each section of the examination.

Candidates undertaking level 4 course will also undergo a practical assessment. Assessment is usually conducted in pairs of a driller level candidate and a supervisor level candidate.
