Highlights:

Interpretation & QA/QC

(This course can be modified to focus on cement logs only)

Workshop: You can bring your own logs to the course to be interpreted by our specialist instructor

Who Should Attend:

The course is intended for early career engineers as well as for more experienced subsurface workers needing to better understand the principles of cased hole log interpretation and to update themselves on the range of log measurements and techniques now available to them.

Objectives:

Course Content:

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this course, participants will have built up competence in their ability to understand the results of cased hole logs and their interpretation to the Basic Application Level. They would become familiar with the principles of measurement of common cased hole logging tools and their interpretation methodologies, improving their ability to diagnose cased hole well issues.

Participants completing this course will be able to:

  1. Use the principle of measurement to better understand cased hole production logs data
  2. Quickly calculate percentage zonal contributions for producing layers in a producing/injection well using production log data.
  3. Apply skills covered to calculate zonal and total flow contributions in the well
  4. Determine phase fluid split in a producing well
  5. Use production log data to quickly identify zones of increased water or gas production
  6. Calculate from PNL data, oil saturation of a reservoir sand using time lapse and water saturation methods
  7. Determine the presence of gas in a formation using PNL “Gas Detection” methods
  8. Interpret a cement evaluation log to determine the presence and extent of cement in a cemented casing
  9. Identify the presence of channels in a cemented well using Ultrasonic imaging tools
  10. Establish the degree of mechanical damage in a casing or tubing using Ultrasonic and mechanical caliper tools
  11. Calculate casing metal loss and burst pressure from Ultrasonic and mechanical tool data
